How much does it cost to finance a BMW?

The monthly cost of financing a BMW depends on the model, the amount you borrow, the term length, and the APR you are offered. A smaller model like a BMW 1 Series will have lower monthly payments than a larger model like an X5 or 5 Series.

The rate you are offered depends on your individual circumstances, including your credit history, income, and the amount you want to borrow. Rates start from 9.9% APR. Representative 19.8% APR.

Use the calculator further down this page to estimate monthly payments based on the price of the BMW you are looking at, your preferred term length, and your credit profile.

BMW's M range is also popular on finance. Models like the M2, M3, and M4 have a reputation for holding their value on the used market, which could work in your favour with PCP. Higher performance models may attract higher insurance costs, so it is worth factoring that in alongside your finance payments.

Popular BMW models to finance

BMW is one of the most popular brands to finance in the UK. Whether you are looking at a used 1 Series or a used 4 Series, HP and PCP are both available via Brumble. Once approved, you can get your car from any verified UK dealer. Here are some of the most commonly financed BMW models.

  • BMW 1 Series

One of the most affordable ways into a BMW. Strong demand for used 1 Series may help support used values.

  • BMW 2 Series

Available as a coupe or Gran Coupe. Used examples offer a premium feel at a more accessible price point.

  • BMW 3 Series

The best-selling BMW in the UK. Widely available on the used market with a reputation for holding value.

  • BMW 4 Series

Available as a coupe or convertible. Used 4 Series models offer a sportier alternative to the 3 Series at similar price points.

  • BMW X1

A compact SUV that has a reputation for holding its value. Popular with families looking for a used BMW on finance.

  • BMW X3

A mid-size SUV with strong used demand. Finance can make a used X3 more affordable than you might expect.

  • BMW X5

A larger SUV with strong used demand. Depreciation on the X5 could work in your favour when buying used on finance.

  • BMW 5 Series

A premium executive car. Used 5 Series models could represent good value compared to their original list price.

  • BMW i4

BMW's fully electric saloon. Used i4s are starting to appear on the market as early PCP agreements end, making electric BMW ownership more accessible on finance.

What are my BMW finance options?

HP for your BMW

With HP (Hire Purchase), you make fixed monthly payments and own the BMW at the end of the agreement. There are no mileage limits, so you can drive as much as you like. HP is usually the more cost-effective option if you plan to keep the car long-term.

Once you have made the final payment and paid a small option-to-purchase fee, the BMW is legally yours. You can then sell it, trade it in, or keep driving it with no further payments.

PCP for your BMW

BMW PCP is one of the most popular ways to finance a BMW. With PCP (Personal Contract Purchase), your monthly payments are typically lower than HP because you are only paying for the depreciation, not the full value of the car. At the end of the agreement, you have three options: hand the car back, pay the balloon payment to keep it, or use any equity towards your next car.

PCP can be particularly attractive for used BMWs. If the used car market remains favourable, your car could be worth more than the balloon payment at the end of the agreement. That equity is yours to use as a deposit on your next vehicle.

Your rights during the agreement

With both HP and PCP, you have the right to end the agreement early. Voluntary termination is available once you have paid at least half of the total amount payable. You can also settle the agreement early by paying the remaining balance. These rights give you flexibility if your circumstances change.

Both HP and PCP may be available with no deposit on many BMW models, subject to status and affordability. A deposit is not required, though putting one down could reduce your monthly payments.

I'm thinking about leasing a BMW, how does it compare to finance?

Leasing (also called PCH or Personal Contract Hire) and finance are different products. The biggest difference is ownership. With a lease, you never own the car. You pay monthly for the right to use it, then hand it back at the end. With finance (HP or PCP), you have the option to own the car.

Why many drivers prefer finance over leasing

With HP, the car is yours at the end of the agreement. You can keep driving it with no further payments, sell it, or trade it in. With a lease, you always hand it back and start paying again for your next car.

With PCP, you can build equity. If your BMW holds its value and the used car market remains favourable, the car could be worth more than the balloon payment at the end. That difference is yours to keep or put towards your next vehicle. Leasing removes that opportunity entirely.

Both HP and PCP give you the right to end the agreement early through voluntary termination or early settlement. This gives you flexibility if your circumstances change. With a lease, early exit usually involves significant penalties.

Finance also has no restrictions on personalisation. You can modify or accessorise your BMW as you see fit. Leasing agreements typically require the car to be returned in its original specification.

Can I finance a used BMW?

Yes. Both HP and PCP may be available on used and second hand BMWs from verified UK dealers. You do not need to buy from a BMW dealership to finance a used BMW. Via Brumble, you can finance a used car from any verified dealer across the UK.

Most lenders allow the car to be up to around 14 to 16 years old at the end of the agreement, though this varies. A 10-year-old BMW financed over 5 years could fall within the limits for many lenders.

Used BMWs could offer good value on finance. Depreciation is heaviest in the first few years of ownership, so financing a two or three-year-old model could mean lower monthly payments for a car that still has plenty of life in it.

Before financing any used car, it is worth checking its history. Our MOT checker shows past test results and advisories. Our tax and ULEZ checker confirms road tax status and clean air zone compliance.

Is it hard to get finance for a BMW?

Whether you are approved for car finance depends on your individual circumstances, not the brand of car you want to buy. Lenders assess your credit history, income, outgoings, and affordability.

Being declined for finance elsewhere does not necessarily mean every lender will say no. Different lenders have different criteria. Via Brumble, your application can be matched against a panel of lenders, which may include some who are more flexible about credit history.

A soft search lets you check what you could be eligible for without any impact on your credit score. If you decide to proceed, a hard search will be carried out by the lender.

If you have a lower credit score, see our bad credit car finance page. If you need finance with no money down, see our no deposit car finance page. If you receive benefits, see our car finance on benefits page. A guarantor could also strengthen your application.

How Reliable Are Used BMWs?

According to DVSA MOT data analysed by Brumble, BMW has a national MOT pass rate of 79.3%, based on 1.70 million tests in the 2025 test year. The national average across all brands is 72.4%.

This places BMW above the national average, which could indicate that used BMWs may be less likely to have issues at MOT time compared to some other brands. However, individual results depend on the car's age, mileage, and maintenance history.

The most common MOT advisory and failure items on BMW vehicles include brake disc wear, tyre condition, and suspension components. Checking these areas before purchasing could help you avoid unexpected costs during your finance agreement.

Our free MOT checker lets you look up any vehicle's full MOT history by registration number. For a more detailed assessment, our BMW reliability report breaks down pass rates by model, age, and mileage.

Does BMW offer 0% finance?

Manufacturers occasionally run 0% finance promotions on selected new models through their dealership network. These are manufacturer-subsidised offers and are not available all the time.

These promotions, sometimes described as zero interest or 0% APR, mean you pay no interest on the amount borrowed. They are only available on selected new models and are not permanent.

0% promotions typically require an excellent credit score, may need a larger deposit, and are limited to specific models and trim levels. They are not usually available on used cars.

If a 0% promotion is not available for the model you want, or if you do not meet the eligibility requirements, Brumble's partner offers HP and PCP for used BMWs. You can check what rates you could be eligible for on a used BMW via a soft search. Rates start from 9.9% APR, subject to status.
